“Strong relationships cantransform lives.”

“With three decades in education, I’ve seen firsthand how strong relationships, innovative thinking, and a student-centered culture can transform lives. Littleton’s reputation for academic excellence, community involvement, and dedication to student success is what drew me to this great organization, and I am inspired by the incredible work already being done across the district.”

Together, we will build on the district’s many strengths and continue to create engaging, inclusive and equitable learning environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Employee experience

Your first year, mapped

What actually happens between signing an offer and planning your second year.

Week 0

Offer and onboarding

HR responds to electronic requests within 72 hours. Fingerprint clearance and certification requirements are walked through with you, not emailed at you.

Weeks 1–2

New staff induction

District induction, academy-specific orientation, benefits enrollment, and an introduction to the partner organizations attached to your campus.

Term 1

Coaching, not evaluation

Instructional coaches spend the first term in classrooms. The first formal observation comes after you have had support, not before.

Term 2

Professional learning communities

Grade-level and department PLCs meet on the calendar, with data protocols and release time built in.

Year end

Growth conversations

Continued education at discounted prices, reflective conferences and professinoal development.

Innovation · AI Framework 2025

Smarter tools.Human judgment.

Littleton is putting artificial intelligence to work for the people who teach and support our students — to personalize learning, cut routine work and give you back time for what matters most. We do it ethically, securely and with a human-centered approach.

What it means for you

Tools that free up your time, clear guidance on using them well, and a voice in how AI evolves across the district — whether you teach, lead, or keep our schools running.

Questions? Jim Verrill, Director of Instructional Technology & Integration · Verrill.jim@littletonaz.org

01

Enhancement of teaching & learning

AI supplements great teaching — supporting differentiated instruction, lesson planning and engagement — without replacing students’ own critical thinking and creativity.

02

Efficiency & innovation

By handling routine paperwork, document drafts and workflow, AI frees teachers, clerical, operations and administrative staff to focus on students and strategy.

03

Ethical & responsible use

Student and staff privacy, accuracy and freedom from bias come first. AI supports human decision-making; final oversight and approval always rest with our staff.

04

Future-readiness

We teach digital citizenship, adaptability and responsible AI use, so students become informed, ethical users of technology — not just consumers of it.

Our philosophy

Start with a human.End with a human.

Our human-centered approach is a collaborative cycle: people provide the input, AI generates a response, and people review it for accuracy, relevance and bias — ending in human insight and empowerment.

  1. 01 · Human

    Inquiry

Every use starts with a person asking a purposeful question.

  2. 02 · AI

    Generates

The tool drafts, sorts or suggests — fast.

  3. 03 · Human

    Review

We check the output is accurate, relevant and free of bias.

  4. 04 · Human

    Reflection

Insight and judgment shape the final decision.

Then the cycle begins again — always led by people
The 80/20 approach

AI can carry 80% of the load. The 20% that matters most is yours.

AI efficiencyRoutine tasks, data processing and first drafts.
Human oversightRevise, verify, refine.
Key points
  • AI efficiency. Let AI handle routine tasks, data processing and initial drafts — roughly 80% of the work.
  • Human oversight. Dedicate at least 20% to human input: revising outputs, matching tone and voice, verifying accuracy.
  • Quality assurance. Human review refines outputs, catches nuance and adds context.
  • Audience relevance. Your insight and expertise make sure the final work resonates with the people it serves.
AI in your work

Two ways AI willsupport you here

For teachers and support staff alike, AI makes the day more efficient and learning more personal.

01 · Task automation

Less busywork, more people work

Streamline repetitive, time-consuming tasks — generate grading rubrics, compile report data, and translate newsletters into multiple languages for our families.

02 · Personalized learning

Learning at every student’s pace

Create customized lesson plans, targeted practice exercises and real-time feedback that help each student learn at their own pace and grow academically.

Our guardrails

What every Littleton employee keeps in mind

Privacy & data security

  • Tools comply with FERPA and COPPA
  • Follow the district Acceptable Use Policy
  • Never enter personally identifiable information (PII)

Ethical use

  • Review outputs regularly for bias and fairness
  • Be transparent about how AI is used and how decisions are made

Human oversight

  • Validate AI output against human judgment
  • AI augments roles — educators stay at the centre of learning

Inclusivity & access

  • Accessible to all students and staff, including those with disabilities
  • Adapted for the languages and cultures of our community
Your voice in it

Shaped by the peoplewho use it

In 2024–25 we launched two AI steering committees and a classroom pilot, so teachers, administrators and support staff guide how AI is used across the district.

01

AI in Teaching & Learning Committee

Shapes generative AI in curriculum, personalized learning and the classroom: revising the framework, building exemplary use cases, recommending professional development and keeping use ethical.

Meets monthly
02

AI in Operations & Support Committee

Support and administrative staff from every department streamline operations with AI, share best practice for non-teaching roles and recommend professional development.

Meets quarterly
03

Grades 5–8 Generative AI Pilot

Select classrooms explore School AI and Khanmigo under strict guidelines and supervision — no PII, parent notification and permission, and family and student feedback built in.

Professional development included. Continuous training helps every educator integrate AI tools effectively, ethically and responsibly. Students under 13 do not use generative AI directly; the grades 5–8 pilot runs under controlled conditions with parent permission.
